ABOUT

US

The good thing about numbers is that they are infinite. The bad thing about numbers is that they are infinite. Often feared, mostly avoided and rarely loved, huge data sets can tell many good stories, if only you took a closer look. We are here to do exactly that and our playfield is London.

The idea behind "London in Numbers" is to lose the ‘complex’ image that numbers carry and instead bring out various interesting aspects of the city that can be discovered through them, but in an easy-to-consume and engaging package. On this site, you will discover serious stats on issues such as sexual harassment to count of foxes that call the city their home (10,000, if you are curious). Some numbers will make you think, others will surprise and we also hope to find subjects that would make you laugh or be an excellent ice-breakers for those bar conversations.

Doesn’t matter whether you are travelling to London or live here, new in the city, a student or working here or even born and bred here, this site will surprise you with a new number on a new topic, every day. Stay tuned!

Who are we?

We are a bunch of five journalists from the UK / Kenya, Slovakia, India, Canada/Taiwan and Brazil in our second year of master's program at City University of London. As reporters, numbers have always been critical to us. They are often evidence and the basis of articles, help in dissecting stories or act as proofs to back them up.Through this site, we try to do the same: dissect London to understand the everyday dynamics of this bustling capital. So, if London intrigues you as much as it intrigues us, come along and discover it with us...
